Project description
The research group in Decision Analysis is looking for a Civilian Servant to support work in the group, and specifically in two projects. The project “Policy and Decision Analysis in Swiss Pesticide Governance” is part of a larger transdisciplinary project on “Transformation in Pesticide Governance”. We aim to investigate stakeholder’s preferences, risk attitude, influence, collaboration, and exchange for finding consensus options. The project follows a Multi-criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) process and builds on policy analysis theories, using Social Network Analysis (SNA). In the project “Model Validation and Evaluation procedures for integrated NBS-PSS”, we aim to develop evaluation approaches for planning support systems to improve strategic planning of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in cities. We will investigate the preferences of both developers and prospective users of planning tools, to create widely accepted evaluation procedures.

Responsibilities
The civilian servant will be supporting work of the decision analysis group in general, and specifically in the two research projects. Tasks:
  • Data gathering through surveys and/or interviews with stakeholders and experts
  • Literature research
  • Data processing including: data entry, statistical analysis, and data visualization
  • Possibly assist the preparation of workshops and produce workshop materials
  • General administrative support (e.g., writing protocols, preparing material for online tools)
Supervision
The project is supervised by Dr Judit Lienert (group leader), Dr Martijn Kuller (Postdoc), and Milena Wiget (PhD student).

Your profile
The prospective candidate for this position has a Master degree in a Social Science discipline or in Environmental Sciences. Other disciplines (and possibly Bachelor degree) will be considered, depending on the skill set. The position requires good statistical skills, and preferably experience with stakeholder interviews, online surveys, literature research, and environmental indicators in agriculture or urban planning. Fluent oral and written German and English is required, French is a plus.
