Aufgaben
The research project focuses on developing electrolytes for high-voltage lithium-ion batteries within an internal project. Your tasks include electrolyte formulation, characterization, and assessment in lithium-ion batteries with a special focus on solid electrolyte interphase formation on anode and cathode. Our labs are fully equipped for battery fabrication and testing. State-of-the-art facilities include synthesis labs with fume hoods, gloveboxes, various synthesis reactors and furnaces, sputtering, evaporation, and atomic layer deposition facilities, X-ray diffractometers, Raman and FTIR spectrometers, electrochemical characterization including impedance spectroscopy, mass spectrometers, gas chromatographers, thermogravimetric analyzer, various equipment for the characterization of electrolytes, etc. Access to advanced electron microscopy and X-ray facilities is also available.
Anforderung
We are looking for a highly self-motivated team player ready to work independently in Empa’s vibrant international research environment. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD degree in materials science, chemistry, physics, or related fields. Prior experience in lithium-ion batteries and electrolyte design is an advantage.
