Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.
2-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship
We invite applications for a
Duty
to conduct research in any field in the area of aquatic science and technology. Eawag focuses on cutting-edge research that is driven by the needs of society and leads to significant advances in the aquatic sciences. Innovative approaches and technologies for the sustainable management and use of water are developed through collaborations among natural and social scientists and engineers.
The postdoctoral fellow will be hosted within one of Eawag’s 12 Research Departments (see Organisation). Selection of the postdoctoral fellow will be based on the research proposal and academic record of the candidate.
Qualified candidates have been granted a doctoral degree not more than two years before the application deadline and have no previous collaborations with Eawag researchers. Candidates who do not fulfil these conditions will be disqualified for the award. The application must include:
- a brief letter that includes the title of the proposed postdoctoral project and a brief abstract (not to exceed 250 words) written for a reader who is not an expert in the topic. This letter should also identify the Research Department that the candidate considers would be an appropriate host for the project. Note that the necessary infrastructure for the proposed project must be available at Eawag
- a curriculum vitae including a list of publications
- a 3-page proposal (including references) describing the research project to be conducted during the fellowship. A font size of at least 10-point Arial (or equivalent) and margins of at least 2.5cm are required. Support for expenses related to the project (approximately 10K CHF/year) will be provided
- names and contact information for two academic references

The deadline for applications is 14 April 2022. The decision will be made by the end of June. It is anticipated that the starting date for the postdoctoral fellowship will be between autumn/winter 2022/2023.
