PhD Student in ecological impacts of light pollution
The Research Unit "Land Change Science" assesses ecological consequences of environmental change. In the framework of the new interdisciplinary research initiative "eXtremes" 2021-2024", we are looking for the duration of four years, starting in October 2021 for a (f/m/d)
Aufgaben
Artificial light at night has been identified as a primary driver of environmental change in the 21st century with key consequences for both, ecological systems and humans. You will assess the impact of different LED lighting properties on insect communities using a variety of metrics such as abundance and taxonomic and functional diversity as well as community composition in terms of species and functional traits. In addition, you will conduct experiments on specific plant-herbivore interactions and herbivore predation.
Anforderung
You hold a Master’s degree in the field of environmental science, ecology or biology. You have experience in entomology and in field work. You are physically fit and able to work in demanding conditions in the field. You are highly motivated, good at analysing and interpreting data and at writing scientific texts. As a team player, you have good oral and written communication skills, are well organised and able to work independently and efficiently.
