The Social Science Landscape Research Group in the Economic and Social Sciences Research Unit works on questions concerning the interaction between society and sustainable landscape development. We are looking for the following person to work on a research project for 2 years (with option of extension), starting in January 2022 or by arrangement
Duty
In an interdisciplinary project within the framework of the EU's Horizon 2020 research program, forest restoration measures are being carried out and analysed on demonstration plots throughout Europe. This also includes dealing with the societal handling of the restoration measures in the Governance and Society work package led by WSL, which examines governance practices across Europe and explores them in greater depth in workshops. Qualitative interviews in the regions of the demonstration areas as well as a Europe-wide representative online survey will also serve to explore the attitudes of the public to forest enhancement. Finally, a toolkit for implementation in practice will be developed.

Your main task is the preparation and analysis of the qualitative interviews and the online survey. In addition, you will supervise the local partners in conducting the interviews, support the workshops, monitor the survey conducted by a polling institute and support the work package leader in his tasks. Finally, you will develop the toolkit, publish the results in international journals and present them at project meetings, scientific conferences and in practical context.
Requirement
You have completed a social science degree with a focus on the environment, have a doctorate in this field and experience in qualitative and quantitative social research and statistics. Knowledge of the research field "Forest and Society" is an advantage. You communicate orally and in writing fluently in English, have very good skills in German and ideally knowledge of other European languages. Furthermore, you convince with an independent, interdisciplinary networked way of working, are proactive, committed, communicative and team-oriented.

Please send your application to Jeanine Gehrig, Human Resources WSL. If you have any questions, please contact Marcel Hunziker, marcel.hunziker@wsl.ch. WSL aims to increase the proportion of women, so qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply.
