PostDoc in population genetics / data management (50-80%)

The Research Unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology studies the diversity of life, from genetic diversity to species and habitat diversity, as well as their interactions. Their Research Group Ecological Genetics is looking for a limited duration of 6-9 months, from January 2022 or by arrangement, for a (f/m/d)
Duty
You carry out a feasibility study on the development of a new database comprising information on genetic variation in natural populations of Switzerland. The study encompasses a concept for the establishment of the database and its potential links to the existing national biodiversity data network. For this, you will establish (i) a catalog with requirements related to structure and content, (ii) arrange a consensus with stakeholders about data use and exchange, and elaborate criteria for data collection and quality control. An interdisciplinary project team supports you in these tasks.
Requirement
You have acquired a doctorate in biology, environmental sciences or in a related field. You have solid knowledge in population genetics, preferably in relation to conservation biology, and a good understanding of databases and their structure. Experience with cartographic illustration of biodiversity data and interest in working with open research data is desirable. You feel comfortable communicating with mostly national stakeholders. Besides you have a good command in German or French and you are fluent in English. A well-structured, conceptual and independent working attitude is your strength, as well as teamwork and the capability for communication.
