PostDoc in modelling forest ecology
The research unit Forest Resources and Management analyses state and development in forests. In the project “Climate sensitive Ingrowth Modelling (ClimSIM)”, we investigate the effects of climate on the recruitment of tree species. The goal is to provide management recommendations better adapted to future climate conditions. We are offering for one year a position as
Duty
You analyse the climate sensitivity of tree species recruitment based on data from the Swiss National Forest Inventory (NFI) to improve the forest development model MASSIMO. From these results, you develop a new climate-adapted planting sub-model for tree species recruitment for current and future forest communities in Switzerland. You validate your insights using different forest development scenarios with MASSIMO. The results are expected to be published in international scientific journals.
Requirement
You hold a PhD in forest or environmental sciences with a corresponding publication record. You are interested in the ecological development of forests. Excellent knowledge in statistics (preferably in R) and experience in statistical modelling is mandatory. You exhibit a very good command of the English language, good knowledge of the German language is advantageous.
