Duty
Your tasks
You are leading a team of experts in instrumental analysis, you develop methods for chemical analysis in material science and process analysis within academic, governmental and industrial projects. You are interested in the automation and digitalization of the lab workflow, realization of LIMS/ELN platforms and interaction with the customers. You drive digital transformation with in-depth experience for the lab practices, sensors, portable diagnostics, and data science. You manage a large pool of instruments and sensors for elemental and molecular analysis, such as sample digestion autoclaves, GC/LC/ICP-MS, FT-IR, Raman, XRF, XPS, AAS, OES, LIBS etc. You collaborate with Empa labs, with national and international research teams and with industrial partners. You communicate results in scientific journals and to international conferences. You acquire third-party funding for your team. You cooperate with the head of laboratory on the strategy and goals.
Requirement
Your profile
You are an experimental chemist with a PhD and a broad understanding of instrumental analytics and data methods in the field of materials science. You have a network with research institutions and the chemical industry. You have state-of-the-art laboratory experience with a variety of chemical processes and techniques. You have experience in digital transformation and data treatment. Proven skills in data science, chemometrics, sensing, laboratory workflow and instrumentation are a plus. You have experience as a leader and a communicative balance to motivate the team to tackle new challenges. You have excellent German language skills and you are fluent in English in both oral and written.
