Empa - the place where innovation starts

Empa is the research institute for materials science and technology of the ETH Domain and conducts cutting-edge research for the benefit of industry and the well-being of society.
Postdoc position on electrochemical CO2 reduction
Empa’s Laboratory Materials for Energy Conversion focuses on materials and device innovation for sustainable energy conversion and storage technologies. We are offering a
Duty
The research project focuses on the development and understanding of catalysts and gas diffusion electrodes for electrochemical CO2 reduction. Your primary task is to relate catalyst activity and selectivity with their microstructural and chemical features using multiphysics modelling validated by experiments, and understand how these parameters influence the local reagent/product concentrations. You will also be in charge of coupling multiphysics modelling with experiment automation and integration with Empa/ETH's data management platform as part of a national initiative towards digital chemistry/material science.
Requirement
We are looking for a highly self-motivated team player ready to work independently in Empa’s vibrant international research environment. Candidates possess a PhD degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related fields. Experience in modelling of mass transport phenomena in electrochemical systems using multiphysics modelling (e.g. COMSOL) is required, knowledge of Python and database management is an advantage. Hands-on lab experience in electrochemistry and/or electrolysis research is considered a plus.
Only complete applications will be considered
